About AppTracker
AppTracker records every time you open, close or switch apps, and when you lock or unlock your device. It records the total time spent in each app and provides you with summary stats and charts.
How does AppTracker work?
AppTracker monitors app launches in the background. You may need to allow Background App Refresh in Settings. AppTracker should not have any noticeable effect on your battery life.
Unlike some other device usage applications, AppTracker does not require access to Location Services.
Usage stats
AppTracker is a research project by the University of Glasgow. As well as recording app launch information, we collect data on your usage of AppTracker, such as screen changes and button taps within the AppTracker app.
We do NOT record: what you do within applications, anything you type into your device's keyboard, any websites you visit, or your location.
During the project, all online data will be stored in a password-protected computer account, and paper data will be kept secure. You can contact us at any time if you would like to opt out or request us to destroy your data.
We may in future contact you to ask questions about your use of the system. Should we contact you in this way, your participation in any such questionnaires or interviews will be entirely voluntary and you can decline to answer or ignore any questions.
